History of Sistersville

Why Sisters Fest in Sistersville?  Well… isn't it obvious!?!  Sistersville was named for sisters, which makes it even more special! Charles Wells settled Sistersville in the early 19th century.  In 1839 the town was incorporated and named in honor of his daughters, Sarah and Deliah, the 18th and 19th of his 22 children!

The festival has grown every year and not just in numbers, in friendships as well.  If you have not experienced Sisters Fest, then you probably don't know what I'm talking about, but once you've been here, you'll want to tell your sister/friends about it and make plans to come next year.  This festival makes you set aside a time to come together with a sister or friend from close by, or across the country for some serious fun!  The next time you pass a "sister" on the street, you'll have a new bond with them after sharing secrets, family history and many precious memories!!

Sisters or best friends… aren't they really the same???
If you don't have or can't bring your sister, a friend is a great idea!!

Sistersville Ferry--usually opens on April 1 and closes again for winter.
